What's inside a New Comfort sofa
The parts you don't see decide how long a sofa lasts. Here is how we build ours, in the order our workshop builds it.
The Frame
Kiln-dried hardwood, dried to 6–8% moisture so it won't warp or crack. Every joint is double-doweled, corner-blocked, glued and screwed. Each frame is signed by its builder.
Eight-Way Hand-Tied Springs
Steel coils are tied by hand in eight directions with Italian twine, then lashed to the frame. The seat stays level and supportive for decades, not just years.
Cushions & Padding
High-resilience foam cores, wrapped in Dacron and a feather-and-down blend jacket. Seat cushions are reversible so wear stays even.
Cutting, Sewing & Tailoring
Patterns are matched by hand across cushions and arms. Welting is hand-sewn and nailhead trim is set one head at a time.
